Abstract

Track A's A1 Letter (2026-09-02 portfolio decision, directive R3 §3, unblocked by NEXT_SCIENCE_LEDGER.md item 1): the exact matter-contraction non-Gaussianity amplitude fNL = −35/16, carried alone rather than inside P2's full forecast-machinery manuscript. The ledger-#1 gate — an independent second, from-scratch in-in derivation — is closed: it reproduces −35/16 and identifies Cai et al. (2009)'s published −35/8 as the same physics under a uniform missing factor of 2, not a competing result. The Letter adds a new orientation-dependent squeezed-limit calculation and a δN-formalism cross-check, and states the bounce-transmission question honestly (not assumed lossless, T=1) rather than asserting it. P2's full forecast machinery (b_φ nuisance ladder, torsion bound, dressed-metric transmission closure) stays in P2/A2, not duplicated here.

Result summary

  • openfNL = −35/16 = −2.1875 for the stated matter-dominated-contraction background and cubic action
  • openLedger #1 CLOSED: independent from-scratch in-in re-derivation reproduces −35/16 by a second method
  • openCai et al. (2009)'s −35/8 located as the same physics under a uniform missing factor of 2, not a competing derivation
  • openNew orientation-dependent squeezed-limit result not carried in P2's original manuscript
